Meet your fellow streamer: PhantomFLYER09!

I started steaming for a little over a year now, but just recently started a schedule. I stream all varieties of games trying to learn how other designers make games. I am currently getting my bachelor’s in Game Design and the reason I stream is to have others tag along on my journey into the design world. I am a husband to an amazing woman and father of a beautiful daughter.

How did you first hear about streaming?

I heard about streaming when Twitch really started to get big. I never thought I would actually get into it.

If you had an unlimited budget, what would your dream stream setup look like?

If I had the budget, I would make my stream look even more professional with a better camera and maybe a better computer to stream on. I, however, am happy with what I have for the time being and if I was to make any amount of funds from streaming, they would go towards making my own games and charity.

What is your favorite TV series?

At the moment, Stranger Things has a special place in my heart.

What is your favorite thing to stream? Why?

I just enjoy streaming games I wouldn’t normally play. Opening myself up to games I wouldn’t normally play has been a great experience and I found that I actually like most of the games I try.

What do you feel is your greatest accomplishment in your streaming career? Why?

When I got 25 followers. I would really like to grow more, but for now that is my greatest accomplishment.

Do you collect anything?

I collect a number of nerdy things such as comic books, and merchandise for animes and shows I enjoy. Some of my favorite things I have are all of the Cowboy Bebop POPs, a signed script from Game of Thrones, and the collection of Spider-Man comics.

What is your advice on not getting tilted on stream?

Just breathe, in the end, it’s just a game. We all have our moments though and it does happen. On occasion I have gotten frustrated, it’s a human emotion after all. Sometimes, just taking a moment to breath, maybe talk to your stream and just defuse before continuing to play could help tremendously.

What kind of playlists do you like while you are streaming?

I normally don’t listen to music while I stream, however before every stream I play either songs from the game I am playing or I play Ninja Sex Party.

What gives you motivation to continue streaming?

The experience and the new people I meet gives me the motivation to stream. Plus, my future career in Game Design motivates me to play/stream those games that I would normally look past.

Meet your fellow streamer: CirrusJT!

Hello! I’m CirrusJT, or Cirrus, or JT, whatever you prefer. I started streaming around August of 2018 and bounced around a few different games before landing on Kerbal Space Program. The focus of the stream has always been the community and fostering great conversation. Which usually revolves around space and things happening around the globe in that field.

How did you first hear about streaming?

Not quite sure how to answer this one other than saying I was a long time viewer, first time streamer. I think I first started watching streams back in the Starcraft 2 heyday when it was basically the biggest eSport around. I was in it hard and was trying to pick up tips and tricks from pros while also keeping up with the “scene”

If you had an unlimited budget, what would your dream stream setup look like?

Is there another answer that isn’t a streaming room like Ninja has? I mean. let’s be honest, who wouldn’t want a room built for them by a big company that’s just for streaming with cool lights, cameras, and drinks? For real though, I don’t think budget and stream quality are always correlated. You can be huge on a budget setup and small on a monster setup. I’d actually use that budget at making myself a more entertaining streamer or giving back to the community, the equipment is secondary.

What is your favorite TV series?

I’m going to be honest and say I’m not really a TV series type of person. If I were to pick one as my absolute favorite, it would probably be “Stargate SG-1” as I’ve watched the entire series all the way through about 3 times at this point. A close second is Mystery Science Theatre 3000. Used to love those things growing up. The Star Wars animated series (Clone Wars and Rebels) are also in the running.

What is your favorite thing to stream? Why?

Hands down. Kerbal Space Program. Not only is it a game where I can play out space engineering fantasies of mine, but also the community is probably one of the best on Twitch. If you’re streaming it, the viewers you get are helpful and are probably just as nerdy as you are.

What do you feel is your greatest accomplishment in your streaming career? Why?

Honestly, it’s everything I’ve done up to this point, I’d say is my greatest accomplishment. If you were to ask me about a year ago, when I first started getting the stream going that this is where it would be at this time, I would’ve thought you were crazy.

Do you collect anything?

There’s really nothing in particular I collect. Throughout my life, I’ve never really been a collector type person. Now that I think about it, I’m not sure if that’s good or bad. XD

What is your advice on not getting tilted on stream?

This question makes me think of that meme: “it’s only game why you heff to be mad” but honestly there’s a lot of truth there. Think about that random viewer that drops in checking out your stream and they see you raging at something dumb, you’ve lost that viewer probably forever. Getting tilted and raging just isn’t worth it in the long term, yes, it may feel good to get it out then and there, but think about your viewers. Also, it’s hard for me to get tilted launching fake rockets with little green astronauts. 😛

What kind of playlists do you like while you are streaming?

It really depends on the game I’m playing. I have a curated special space-esque playlist for Kerbal Space Program, and a chill-hop playlist for Rocket League and Escape from Tarkov. I like to vary up the songs I play to start up the stream which is always based on the mood I’m in.

What gives you motivation to continue streaming?

It’s cliche, but honestly the people I’ve met along the way and keep coming back to the stream. Since KSP is my primary game, I’ve met lots of people with similar interest in space flight. So the stream is a way to hang out with them and talk about something we all enjoy while also playing games. What’s not to like about that?

Meet your fellow streamer: HubbaBubbie!

I left my job working with kids to focus more on art and to really dive into this “streaming thing”. I didn’t realize just how much of a supportive community would sprout up around me. I love playing Dune games, Graveyard Keeper, a little Sims, and am reliving my Mass Effect journey with my followers. I live for the conversations I have with my viewers and really enjoy sharing with other streamers.

  • How did you first hear about streaming?

I watched @GGGabLive on her YouTube and instantly subbed when I saw she streamed and was introduced to Twitch. That was nearly two years ago.

  • If you had an unlimited budget, what would your dream stream setup look like?

I’d love to have some fancier lighting, and set something up so viewers can choose the color scheme. I want to put up some foam padding, a nicer chair, mic arm, and all the little doodads that would allow me to stream on my various consoles. Above all, I am in dire need of a bigger desk with more space as my current setup is quite “cozy”.

  • What is your favorite TV series?

Currently, probably Attack on Titan. So sad to hear the last season is coming soon.

  • What is your favorite thing to stream? Why?

I really enjoy Graveyard Keeper. It mixes a little bit of all the things I love in games. Humor, horror, macabre, cuteness, ridiculousness, adventure, farming, and a little action. It’s quite relaxing.

  • What do you feel is your greatest accomplishment in your streaming career? Why?

Relative to some other streamers around me, I feel like I’ve gotten going pretty quickly. I’m getting closer to affiliate every week and I think that honestly is a whole lot of luck. My partner used to work on film sets and happened to have some cool lighting solutions and a Rode mic to give me a head start.

  • Do you collect anything?

I used to collect tin lunchboxes, but fell out of it as money got tighter, as well as space. I’d love to get back into that again. Right now, I’m collecting plants, Lego sets, and have an embarrassingly large collection of phone cases.

  • What is your advice on not getting tilted on stream?

Take breaks! Just because you’re streaming and dedicating time to playing a game for your viewers doesn’t mean you can’t step away for a few. Stretch, grab a drink, have a smoke if that’s your thing. Reset and come back when you’re calm. Failing that, change games.

  • What kind of playlists do you like while you are streaming?

Right now I don’t usually play music while I game, but I’m working on curating a metal playlist. I love Black Sabbath so I’m really looking for something with a similar sound.

  • What gives you motivation to continue streaming?

I have a few popular streamers I follow or sub to, and the community they’ve built around them really motivates me. I love the idea of being a leader in a small community of people with a passion for the same things. I’m really striving to build a supportive, compassionate, fun group of people to hang out and play games with.
